## Resource

The Ross Fire, a 23-day inferno that scorched 90,000 acres across Palo Pinto and Jack counties, has finally been extinguished — but at a devastating cost: over 150 homes and buildings destroyed, 140 more damaged, and the iconic Worth Ranch camp left in ruins. Caused by human negligence near a roadside, this wildfire tested the limits of Texas firefighters, who saved over 450 structures including occupied homes. Now, with containment declared on September 16th, recovery efforts are underway — volunteer departments are receiving nearly $5 million in aid, while federal grants cover 75% of suppression costs. As communities begin rebuilding, the resilience of first responders and the urgency for future preparedness shine through.
