## Resource

Senator Ed Markey, at 80, clinched the Democratic Senate nomination in Massachusetts by defeating younger challenger Seth Moulton, 47, with a campaign that framed Moulton as out of touch — even citing past comments on transgender athletes. While Moulton’s message of generational change resonated with some, Markey’s decades of progressive service and strong party ties proved decisive. The win echoes broader trends across Massachusetts, where older incumbents like Richard Neal and Stephen Lynch also faced younger challengers, underscoring a national debate: can experience still win in an era craving fresh voices? Markey’s victory suggests for now, seasoned leadership remains potent — even if the fight for the future is far from over.
