## Resource

Israel has seized operational control of Ali Taher Hill in southern Lebanon — a strategically vital position overlooking key roads and Hezbollah tunnels — despite a two-month ceasefire. The hill, once occupied by Israel for 18 years before its 2000 withdrawal, now holds critical military value due to Hezbollah’s underground infrastructure, allegedly funded by Iran. Tensions have surged as Israel intensifies operations since July, following retaliatory strikes after Hezbollah drone attacks. Hezbollah refuses to hand it over, rejecting U.S.-mediated disarmament talks that exclude them, while Lebanon accuses Israel of sabotaging its army’s efforts — possibly ahead of Israeli elections. With Iran’s backing essential for Hezbollah’s moves, capturing Ali Taher could unlock broader advances against Hezbollah strongholds — risking regional escalation.
