## Resource

FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s bold plan to sell a 20% stake in the World Cup to private investors—including the Kushner family—has been scrapped after a firestorm of backlash. UEFA, CONCACAF, and the Asian Football Confederation all condemned the move, warning it could jeopardize the tournament’s legacy. Even Infantino’s own senior advisor and COO resigned or spoke out, calling the proposal undemocratic and driven by one person. With no transparency in its development, the plan fractured FIFA’s leadership and reignited debates over whether global sporting icons should remain under the control of governing bodies—not private shareholders.
