## Resource

A former Amarillo cop, Christian Eder, faces 78 misdemeanor charges for abusing police license plate readers to track a romantic rival—running the man’s plate number 76 times over four months with fake excuses like “alcohol offenses” and “city planning.” Investigators also found he accessed personal databases using the rival’s name. Conviction could mean up to a year in jail and a lifetime ban from law enforcement in Texas. Eder was fired, released on bond, and the chief called his actions a betrayal of public trust, vowing new safeguards to prevent future abuse.
