## Resource

Alexander Zverev capped a historic season by winning his second major of the year at the U.S. Open, defeating rising American star Ben Shelton in four sets to claim his first Grand Slam title since 2020. Entering as the top seed, Zverev overcame early nerves from Shelton — who was chasing a landmark victory as the first Black American man to reach a U.S. Open final since 1972 — with composed, powerful tennis, especially in a crucial tiebreaker. The German’s triumph marks a redemption arc after his 2020 U.S. Open meltdown and cements his status as one of the game’s most dominant players this year, having also reached Wimbledon’s final. Shelton, despite falling short in his first loss to Zverev, delivered an electrifying run that captured national attention and signaled a bright future for American tennis.
