## Resource

Scientists have uncovered a ghostly new species in the Mariana Trench—a pale, translucent fish with bioluminescent organs thriving at over 8,000 meters, defying assumptions about vertebrate life in Earth’s deepest zones. Found during a high-tech submersible expedition, this “ghost shark” reveals extraordinary adaptations that could reshape our understanding of evolution under extreme pressure—and may unlock breakthroughs in medicine and materials science. Researchers are now racing to sequence its genome and uncover secrets of its survival, feeding, and reproduction, while future dives promise even more revelations from this ocean frontier.
