## Resource

California’s Governor Newsom is assembling a top-tier expert panel to craft AI safety rules—potentially including emergency shutdowns—to prevent runaway tech from endangering society. After previously vetoing a kill-switch bill, the state is now responding to growing alarms from AI researchers and industry leaders who warn the race to build super-intelligent systems is moving too fast and too recklessly. With major AI companies headquartered in California, any new regulations could reshape global tech standards—balancing innovation with caution before it’s too late.
