## Resource

Scientists have discovered a soil bacterium that can efficiently break down PET plastic—the same stuff in most water bottles—offering a groundbreaking natural solution to the global plastic pollution crisis. While microbes have interacted with plastic before, this strain shows remarkable efficiency, sparking excitement about potential applications in waste management and recycling. Researchers are now working to scale up production and test real-world effectiveness, turning a humble patch of dirt into a possible key to cleaning up our planet’s plastic mess.
