## Resource

Jake Slaughter, the 23-year-old second-round rookie from Florida, is stepping into the starting center role for the Chargers after Tyler Biadasz’s ACL injury — a move that highlights his versatility and readiness. Already seen as a top candidate at left guard, Slaughter was drafted with the expectation he could handle either position. Despite the sudden spotlight, he remains calm and focused, earning praise from teammates, coaches, and even Justin Herbert, who’s raving about his quick grasp of the offense. Former college scout Akheem Mesidor called him a tough competitor on the field and a great guy off it. With veteran linemen calling him one of the smartest rookies they’ve ever seen and Coach Harbaugh backing his starting ability, Slaughter is proving he’s more than ready for the challenge.
