## Resource

A police officer in south London was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman he knew while off-duty, sparking a powerful reminder that accountability knows no uniform. The incident, which occurred in June 2022, led to his arrest and conviction after a trial at Croydon Crown Court. Though he admitted to attempting kisses, he tried to downplay the encounter in court. Police leadership condemned his actions, praising the victim for her courage and the thoroughness of the investigation. Gudgeon remains suspended, with a misconduct hearing ahead and sentencing scheduled for November. This case underscores that no one is above the law — not even those in blue.
