## Resource

A former housing director from Kensington and Chelsea, Laura Johnson—involved in key decisions leading up to the Grenfell Tower fire—is set to take a senior role at The Barnet Group, sparking outrage among survivors and bereaved families who see it as a betrayal of accountability. The Grenfell Inquiry had highlighted her involvement in critical failures, including the tower’s overcladding and faulty fire doors. While Barnet Council defends the appointment as the result of a fair recruitment process and emphasizes resident safety, Grenfell United has demanded the council pause and review the hire. The government acknowledges the controversy but notes councils have autonomy over hiring. For those still grieving and seeking justice, this move feels like another step backward.
