## Resource

Reform UK just landed a jaw-dropping £72 million in crypto donations—£36 million each from billionaires Christopher Harborne and Ben Delo—but the cash could be caught in a new retroactive law targeting foreign donors. With both men holding UK citizenship and recent overseas residencies, the timing of their moves may trigger scrutiny under proposed rules capping overseas contributions at £100K annually, effective March. Labour MPs are furious, especially after a key donation cap amendment died without a vote. Reform UK insists all donations are legal and within current rules, while the government, led by Angela Rayner, pushes ahead with the legislation to “protect democracy,” claiming it’s not partisan but systemic.
