Dallas Stars lock down versatile forward Sam Steele with a four-year extension, signaling their commitment to roster stability as the preseason heats up. With big questions about where Steele fits—top 6 or bottom 6—and his potential to increase offensive production, the contract becomes a focal point for fans debating its value. Can Steele anchor the penalty kill and deliver the consistency Jim Nill raves about while Dallas balances its cap for the likes of Jason Robertson? Joey Erickson breaks down Dallas’ 2-1 preseason victory over the St. Louis Blues, spotlighting Artur Huru’s standout performance and Remy Poirier’s strong showing in net. Key topics include R2-Hooroo’s case for an NHL roster spot, lineup combinations featuring Jason Robertson, Wyatt Johnson, and Mikko Rantanen, and the latest on Matt Duchene’s injury status. As the Stars experiment with offensive adjustments and a veteran-heavy lineup, intriguing position battles and strategic tweaks take center stage.
