## Resource

Detroit Lions shake up their 53-man roster with surprise cuts and unexpected holds—will this bold move propel them to NFC North dominance? Matt Dery breaks down the Lions’ latest roster decisions, spotlighting shock omissions like Greg Dortch and Nick Whiteside, and questioning the strategy behind keeping five running backs while carrying only four wide receivers. The discussion examines Mekhi Wingo and Jabari Small’s surprising roles, Jake Bates’ shaky preseason performance, and the search for reliable punt return solutions. Insights include PFF grades from the preseason win over the Indianapolis Colts, veteran free agents like Geno Stone and Lewis Bond that Detroit could target, and the impact of Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph starting the season on the PUP list. Will Brad Holmes’ vision create a playoff-ready Lions team—or signal growing pains before September’s opener against the New Orleans Saints?
