## Resource

The father of murdered two-year-old James Bulger is demanding a public parole hearing for Jon Venables, the 10-year-old who helped kill him in 1993 — a case that shattered the nation. Venables, now an adult, has repeatedly been recalled to prison for child abuse offenses, fueling fears his crimes are linked to the original murder. James’ mother Denise Fergus and her partner also seek transparency, arguing a public hearing would force accountability and dispel misinformation. The Bulger family’s legal team insists this case is unique — involving child-on-child violence, ongoing sexual offending, and complex risk management — and that openness is vital to understanding how justice is applied. For Fergus, the hearing brings fresh trauma, as she battles once again to protect her son’s memory while confronting the man who destroyed it.
