## Resource

On Valentine’s Day 2024, Michael Williams was sentenced to 32 months in prison for strangling his neighbor with a hammer on the stairs and hurling hot oil at a police officer during a chaotic confrontation. Despite pleading guilty and claiming schizophrenia — which has led to multiple hospitalizations — the judge rejected leniency, citing the extreme violence and public danger he posed. Williams also faces a seven-year restraining order and immediate incarceration due to his unstable housing situation and mental health risks.
