## Resource

Parents at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Primary School are rallying against plans to turn their “Good” rated school into an academy, sparking fears over loss of local control and funding. Tensions escalated at a meeting where the Archdiocese’s director reportedly threatened a “nuclear button option” if governors resisted — a claim the Archdiocese denies, calling it misleading, while attendees, including a reporter, insist they heard it. This dispute is part of a wider push by the Archdiocese of Liverpool to bring 200 Catholic schools under academy trusts, raising urgent questions about autonomy, transparency, and the future of Catholic education in the region.
