## Resource

Kush Burman, BBC’s Race Across the World winner, pays a moving tribute to his late stepdad Matt, who raised him and his brother after his father died when he was just one. Devastated by Matt’s suicide during lockdown, Kush says his journey on the show was fueled by wanting to honor Matt’s memory — and even dedicated his stepdad’s birthday with a heartfelt Instagram call for followers to “brew” in his honor. Alongside friend Jo Diop, Kush and Jo’s Scouse charm and warmth carried them to victory, bonding with locals like teaching a Kyrgyzstan resident the word “boss.” Their win felt like winning the World Cup — surreal, emotional, and deeply meaningful as they proudly represented Liverpool on a global stage.
