## Resource

Sefton Council is under pressure to pause plans to shut down the historic Churchtown aviary, a beloved landmark for 87 years. Despite claims it fails modern animal welfare standards and is too costly to maintain, a new motion demands an independent review and exploration of alternatives—including handing it over to charities or community groups. Even PETA previously supported closure, but now voices are rising to protect the birds and preserve this cherished local institution. The council must weigh all options before making a final call.
