## Resource

After a life-altering car accident left him paralyzed, Ivan Wilks found new purpose through Nebraska’s UPWARD program—a bold initiative pairing community colleges with state agencies to retrain people with disabilities for in-demand careers. With ten hours of intensive training over three months, Wilks, once stuck in construction, is now rebuilding his future with his hands—connecting him with employers and reigniting his sense of purpose. This isn’t just about jobs; it’s about reintegration, independence, and proving that no one’s story ends where others begin.
