## Resource

The Senate just passed a major bipartisan bill that could reshape how college athletes earn money through name, image, and likeness deals—74 votes in favor. Designed to bring national uniformity to a chaotic patchwork of state rules, the legislation also aims to protect the NCAA, limit eligibility to five years, and bar pro athletes from returning to college. But critics argue it falls short by not classifying athletes as employees, potentially weakening their bargaining power. Meanwhile, a similar House bill faces opposition from a congressional group aligned with the NAACP, concerned about political exploitation—especially in the South.
