## Resource

A 70-year-old woman in Grand Island narrowly avoided losing $3,000 after a scammer threatened her with fake police involvement and spun a wild tale about needing to be re-elected. The caller even claimed the police would call her — but the twist? No one was actually scammed. Detective Robert Smith says the scammer’s own lie about “the police calling the police” exposed their desperation.
