## Resource

Nebraska voters face a pivotal November ballot decision: should state law mandate biological sex-based athletic team assignments? The “Fairness for Girls” initiative, now certified, would ban male students from female teams across all levels—from grade school to college and intramurals—expanding on last year’s law. Critics warn it distracts from real issues like pay inequality and facility access, and fear it could unfairly target girls who don’t fit traditional gender norms. Complicating matters, investigations into signature fraud loom over the measure’s legitimacy. With the outcome in voters’ hands, this could reshape sports in Nebraska forever.
