## Resource

Leicester’s boundary expansion plans have hit pause after new legal advice, sparking mixed reactions across Leicestershire, Rutland, and the city. While some local councillors cheer the halt, Mayor Sir Peter Soulsby calls it frustrating but insists the plan will still move forward. Residents in towns like Blaby fear losing local control, longer service queues, and confusing council tax systems — with many, including Gary and Louise Owens and Anthony Coltman, urging the government to scrap the reorganization. Meanwhile, Leicester resident David Christie acknowledges county communities’ desire for autonomy but sees potential benefits in a unified mayor role — stressing that people’s voices must guide any future changes.
