## Resource

Charnwood Borough Council’s $16 million reserve is sparking fierce debate as locals demand their tax money stay local — not handed over to a new, larger authority. Conservatives push for immediate ring-fencing and freezing council tax, arguing the funds were built “on the backs of Charnwood residents.” Greens warn against reckless spending, urging prudence. The council insists it has a clear plan for capital projects, set to reveal details on October fourth — but the question remains: will this money truly serve Charnwood?
