## Resource

Dr. Christine Marie had a front-row seat to the disturbing rise of self-proclaimed prophet Samuel Bateman — and risked her own safety to help expose what was happening behind closed doors. Featured in Netflix’s Trust Me: The False Prophet, Dr. Christine joins Brooke Goff to reveal what happened behind the cameras: how she gained the trust of Bateman and his followers, secretly gathered evidence, worked with law enforcement and the FBI, and faced the very real possibility that her cover could be blown. Christine also opens up about her own past, what brought her to Short Creek, the psychology of coercive control, and why she and her husband continued documenting everything even as the situation became increasingly dangerous. Plus, she explains why she still lives in the community today — continuing the work that brought her there in the first place. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
