## Resource

The EPA is seeking public input on a major rewrite of the nation’s clean water law, aiming to redefine which wetlands fall under federal protection after a Supreme Court ruling stripped many from coverage. This isn’t the first time the definition — known as WOTUS — has sparked legal battles, but this supplemental proposal could reshape how waterways are managed, giving states and tribes more control while focusing federal protections on rivers, lakes, and directly connected wetlands. Proponents say it reduces red tape for farmers and developers, but environmentalists warn it could endanger vital habitats and increase pollution risks. With over 220,000 comments already submitted and public meetings held, this decision could have far-reaching consequences for ecosystems and communities across the country.
