## Resource

A heated debate is unfolding over how elected officials should explain their voting decisions, with Commissioner Patrick Kelly pushing for all explanations to go through the commission chair and be pre-vote public record. But challengers and fellow commissioners like Dorsey and Anderson argue constituents deserve direct, unfiltered answers — especially from dissenting voices. Candidates Ethan Spurling and Kirsten Kuhn vow to personally answer every question, calling it a basic obligation to taxpayers. Even Milton Scott, Kelly’s primary opponent, sees Kelly’s stance as outdated, insisting elected officials must directly serve and explain their actions to the people they represent.
