## Resource

A Georgia judge handed down a life sentence without parole to a teen who orchestrated a school shooting that killed four people and wounded eight, calling his actions “deliberate, contemplated evil” and noting he showed no remorse—only pride in his crime. Prosecutors argued he posed an irredeemable threat to society, while the defense pleaded for a chance at parole, claiming he could change. Victims’ families, devastated and furious, demanded he never walk free, saying his release would inflict lifelong trauma on survivors. Investigators revealed the teen had meticulously planned the attack to gain notoriety in a “true crime” online community, while his defense blamed a troubled childhood and parental neglect. Though the judge acknowledged societal and familial failures, he emphasized the teen’s calculated cruelty could not be excused—and his sentence ensures he will never be released.
