## Resource

A military reporter, Lara Korte, was abruptly fired by the Pentagon for alleged insubordination — but she and her editors believe it’s really about her unwavering commitment to reporting for the military community, not the government. Now they’re suing the Department of Defense, arguing that stripping Stars and Stripes of its editorial independence was illegal and demanding their jobs back. The publication, long funded by the Pentagon yet fiercely independent, serves as a vital lifeline for service members in remote areas. As legal battles heat up and the Pentagon pauses firings pending court action, Korte remains determined to defend press freedom and keep telling stories that matter to those who serve.
