## Resource

Kansas health officials are warning of a surge in rabies exposure risks, with bats leading the charge — and the CDC echoing the alarm nationwide. With a 17% spike in rabies-related calls and a 33% jump in vaccine use, experts urge everyone — especially healthcare workers — to stay vigilant. While no human cases have been reported this year, millions still seek care after potential exposures, and without prompt post-exposure treatment, rabies is almost always fatal. Recent outbreaks and rising animal encounters highlight the need for swift action: assess risk, get shots, save lives.
