## Resource

KU’s massive Naismith Hall, a 10-story dorm with 504 beds, is officially shuttered after its lease expired — no renewal deal in sight. Originally leased in 2023 to handle record-breaking freshman enrollment, the building cost KU nearly $5.1M annually. Now owned by a Boston-based LLC (who bought it for $28.9M in 2024), it’s undergoing renovations while Lewis Hall reopens. With over 31,000 students last fall, KU’s housing strategy now leans on apartments and other campus residences — but the future of Naismith remains uncertain.
