## Resource

A federal judge has authorized force-feeding for a frail Afghan man accused of shooting and killing a National Guard member, as he refuses food in custody. The court’s order permits tube or IV feeding to prevent death, following his deteriorating health since November’s deadly incident near the White House. Despite appearing weak and using a wheelchair in court, Lakanwal faces first-degree murder charges — a case that also touched on U.S. immigration policy. The judge’s decision underscores the legal and moral tension between preserving life and respecting personal autonomy, with the order set to last until October 28th, possibly extendable.
