## Resource

Newly leaked audio tapes from 2017 interviews between President Biden and a ghostwriter are sparking national debate, revealing apparent discussions of classified material from his VP days — including references to “classified stuff downstairs” and a memo on Afghanistan troop deployments. Released by conservative group the Oversight Project after Biden’s legal battle over their disclosure ended, the tapes show moments of memory lapse alongside sharp recall, fueling accusations of cognitive decline from critics — while Biden’s team calls the release politically motivated, tied to his late son. Though specific classified details are redacted, the tapes’ public release, following a court ruling on public interest, has reignited conversations about transparency, presidential accountability, and the handling of sensitive documents.
