Separately, Captain David Hazutt, 21, from Ashkelon and a platoon commander in the Golani Brigade’s 12th Battalion, was killed near Deit Siryan during an operation to search for a terror suspect; another soldier was wounded and evacuated, and the IDF continues searches to locate the attacker as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered condolences and highlighted Hazutt’s service. In the US Policy Concerning Israel, Marco Rubio helped move a difficult process across the line when many expected it to collapse, culminating in the signing of the Trilateral Framework on June 26 in which Israel and Lebanon recognize each other as sovereign neighbors with the right to live in peace and commit to ending the state of war between them.
