Instead of returning home to Arkansas, I went back to Florida and slept on a friend’s couch while searching for work. The state job I eventually accepted was not something I had dreamed about doing. It was an opportunity that provided income, allowed me to remain in Florida, and gave me the time and experience I needed to determine my next move.
