We have gone from full time to part time, to casual, to gig work, lowering the expectation of a long-term professional relationship every step of the way. If this didn’t do enough, studies have shown that many workplaces are now intentionally promoting the fear of job losses in an attempt to “motivate workers” and keep cost down, but this is usually a really dumb idea.
