South Carolina SB 702 would criminalize coercive control and broaden the state’s response to patterns involving psychological and financial domination. The bill stalled in 2026. Scott explains the practical consequence: when the law only reacts to isolated events, the target can spend years describing a pattern that everyone hears but no agency owns. JP married Suzie Skinner in June 2025. Her former husband Chris Skinner, a U.S. Army veteran and quadriplegic motivational speaker, died in September 2021 after being found unresponsive in a neighborhood pool.
