The market gained solid ground on Friday, as investor were boosted by a rally on Wall Street overnightafter both oil prices fell. Lai talks up his priorities for Taiwan's cultural future President Lai Ching-te has been outlining his four priorities for Taiwan's cultural future. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2026 National Cultural Congress in Taipei, Lai said Taiwan's economic achievements should be accompanied by cultural growth, as while an economy makes a country strong, culture makes a country great. According to Lai his administration will be focusing on nurturing younger generations, strengthening local cultural identity, promoting innovation that balances technology with human dignity (人的尊嚴), and helping the world better understand Taiwan. The National Cultural Congress is held every four years. It was held this year under the theme of "Future Tense" and is aimed at shaping Taiwan's cultural vision through 2030. EVA Airways and Starlux win top Skytrax awards And, EVA Airways and Starlux Airlines, secured prestigious five-star airline ratings at the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards in London. EVA Airways won three world No. 1 honors, while Starlux was named the world's cleanest airline. EVA Airways says it was honored for having the world's best premium economy class and the best premium economy class amenities while also being recognized as the world's most family friendly airline. The carrier also retained Skytrax's five-star airline rating for the 11th consecutive (連續的) year.
