We created the Internet to connect the world and use it for both extraordinary knowledge-sharing and manipulation, division and control. The technology does not make these choices. We do. AI is confronting us with this truth more directly than any technology before it. Because AI is not only a mirror. It is an amplifier. It can amplify our creativity, intelligence, curiosity and capacity to solve problems. But it can also amplify fear, greed, manipulation, control and destruction.
