Psalm 10: The God Who Sees the Hidden Things This psalm reads like a detective's report on the anatomy of wickedness. The wicked man lurks in secret places, crouches like a lion, draws the poor into his net. His mouth is full of cursing and deceit; under his tongue is mischief. And at the center of it all, the terrible refrain: "He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten." That is the real crime — not merely the cruelty itself, but the theology that licenses it. If God is not watching, then everything is permitted, and the poor become prey. But the psalmist knows better. "Thou hast seen it," he says, with a simplicity that feels like the turning on of a light in a dark room. Every hidden ambush, every rigged net, every secret murder — seen. The psalm ends not with the punishment of the wicked, though that is implied, but with something more radical: God hearing the desire of the humble and preparing their hearts.
