Direct connectivity between Shannon and Toronto is being restored for the first time in eight years, following the announcement of a new seasonal service. Air Canada will operate three direct flights a week from June next year, providing the only non-stop service from Shannon Airport to Canada. From Toronto, passengers can then connect to more than 150 destinations across Canada, the US, Mexico and beyond. In a statement to Clare FM, CEO of The Shannon Airport Group, Ray O'Driscoll has said that when an airline the scale of Air Canada chooses Shannon, it sends a powerful signal about the strength of the West of Ireland market and its international potential. Welcoming the announcement, Tulla-based Fianna Fail Minister of state Timmy Dooley says it will provide an important new transatlantic connection for Clare and the wider region.
