The organisation is appealing for more volunteers at its Ennis base, after its 2025 impact report revealed almost 350,000 calls were answered nationwide last year. Samaritans operates the only 24-hour emotional support helpline on the island of Ireland, open 365 days a year. Director of Clare Samaritans, Pat White, says anxiety is the main issue affecting callers.
