Jason Collins was a 13-year NBA veteran and a trailblazer who made history as the first openly gay active male athlete in any major North American professional sports league.Drafted 18th overall in the 2001 NBA Draft, Collins played as a center for multiple franchises, including the New Jersey Nets, Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, and Washington Wizards. He was instrumental in helping the Nets reach back-to-back NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003.
