Teer Hardy The Church does not need a map as much as we think we do. The Church needs the One who is the way. A map can tell us where we are going. Only Jesus can raise the dead. Dread is a terrible compass, but Jesus is the faithful way. That is the Gospel claim John 14 makes. Not that we will always know where we are going. Not that we will always like the road. Not that grief will be easy, transition will be painless, or the future will come with a laminated plan approved by the conference office. The promise is better than that. The promise is Christ himself.
