Aoud – one of the most mysterious and interesting projects of the modern techno industry, which became known after the release of SE MKII on Persephonic Sirens. All three tracks on the EP quickly gained popularity among listeners and DJs alike. Aoud’s musical background and emphasis on many concurrent layers raises special perceptual experiences, harking back to Renaissance polyphonists. Aoud’s DJ and live performances avoid codified practices, instead focusing on the intuitive and natural dialogue of techno; minimal and energetic. It’s no exaggeration to say that after its release, Aoud’s SE MKII became the cross-niche consensus record of the techno scene and now joins the ranks of timeless techno classics. As the serious face of trance, Aoud revives the spirit of the early 90s, a short moment before the genre turned its face towards more infantile styles. Aoud condenses melodic drones into menacing walls of sound that pile up like waves, contrasting them with minimal, bittersweet melodic sequences. Although unmistakably Aoud, QED opens itself up to new influences with wavy, uptempo sounds. Like its predecessor, the works constantly oscillate between light and dark.
