I was sitting 3rd in a top 5 league team and this was the last match of the season basically. The table was so tight that everything came down to goal difference. If I lost, I was dropping to 2nd only if it was above 1-0 against me, but if I lost 1-0 I’d actually fall further. If I drew, I stayed 2nd and that was safe. But if I won 1-0, I had to step down to 3rd anyway because Liverpool had the goal difference advantage over me. The only way I stayed up was if I won by more than 1 goal. So yeah, the math was in my head the entire 90 minutes and it was doing my head in. I even had the table open on my phone on the side just to double check every few minutes because I couldn’t believe how close it was. Going into the match I picked Arsenal because I wanted to control possession and play nice football, but the AI was not having it. I was playing against Manchester B and they scored early, like 42nd minute through Pavel Nedved. The scoreboard said ARS 0-1 MNB and I just sat there like “are you serious right now”. I had 54% possession at half time, 1 shot, 0 on target, and they had 1 shot 1 on target. Stats meant nothing because I was losing. I kept trying to break them down with Berbatov, Rooney, Nedved, but their defense was sitting so deep. Every time I got near the box someone would slide in and clear it.
