2007 lancierten deutsche Autoren einen Wettbewerb um das «schönste bedrohte Wort» mit dem Ziel, auf das Verschwinden alter Wörter aus dem Sprachgebrauch hinzuweisen. Dabei um das schönste bedrohte Wort war auch das Adjektiv: «blümerant». Und «blümerant» hat eine wahrhaft königliche Geschichte.
